The Ghost Towns of Chernobyl 2018.
Another visit to Chernobyl to see how if time has been kind since I last visited in 2012..sadly,many of the buildings have become very unsafe in places and I believe it is only a matter of time until a tourist has a serious accident and the tours are all cancelled.Anyhow, after we get checked in at the 30km checkpoint,we head for Zallesia the ruined and long abandoned village. From there we visit Kopachi kindergarten and then Chernobyl town itself where 4000 people still work in and around the zone as liquidators and other tasks including a shop that supports the community. We are staying at Hotel One which is a kind of Hostel but with all the extras of an Hotel including a bar.I must say I thought the food served up here was pretty good and I was never hungry after any meal. The staff are all very nice and helpful too..we used Solo East Travel who provided a first class service from our first Airport transfer to our accommodation also provided by Solo East..I cannot recommend this company highly enough as every trip we had booked was very successful and the guides Igor and Nadia were excellent as was all our drivers too including Pasha plus the airport drivers whose names I cannot remember.
