Lyon Square..what can I say...I have no real information as to when it was built,but I am guessing it was an early 1960`s project.I first discovered this place in 1981,when I was part of the make-over project..we fitted new bathrooms,new hot water systems and much more.We suffered almost constant problems with break-ins over night with locals stealing our tools and materials..I was working in the youth club one day,and I forgot to lock the place securely..the time it took me to return within the hour had seen the club almost totally pillaged including a brand new microwave cooker.
Now in 2013,the surrounding area of Lyon Square has been transformed with new flats,houses,so it is only a matter of re-housing the last few tennants living in the flats, then closing the last few shops below,then Lyon Square can be raised to the ground.It is now May 2015 and as you can see,the demolition has all but been completed..the end of an era for me.
