Cavandish Square shopping centre Swindon 2005-2006
Cavy Square as it became known as was built around the turn of the late 50`s in the Parks estate Swindon to cope with the "London Overspill"..the shops were actually ahead of their time and boasted late night shopping in the CO-OP which stayed open till 9pm!
Inevitably,by the 70`s and 80`s,the yob element had set in,and Cavy soon became a place to avoid.By the 90`s,many of the big named players like Woolworths, had pulled out, leaving smaller shops to fill the square.
In 2005,the plans were announced to redevelop the area minus the pub.
