Cane Hill Asylum externals 2007.
Cane Hill Mental Hospital was opened in 1883 to house patients from the surrounding areas in the hope that the countryside location would aid their recovery. At its peak, Cane Hill housed some 2500 patients. It's located south of Coulsdon.
Closing finally in 1992,this Hospital saw its share of well known names over the years like Michael Caines brother,David Bowies brother,Charlie Chaplins mother.We visited in January 2007 and caused security to have a fit simply by walking round the public footpath.
